Ender, a six year old genius is a third child which is not allowed at his, in the future. Earth is being attacked again by an alien race called the buggers who are out to destroy us. Due to a reason unknown citizens are not allowed to have a third child, but Ender’s parents are different because they are helping for a military cause. The government asked his parents to have a child and they had Peter, but he was to mean. They then asked his parents, “Choose a daughter next –they would have anyway -hoping that Valentine would be Peter, but milder. She was too mild. And so we requisitioned you. To be half Peter and half Valentine.” (pg. 24) The military has come to his house to recruit him and ask him if he wants to help fight the buggers. He said, “yes” and now faces a huge conflict. Can he adapt and survive in this hostile military school or will the pressure and loneliness get to him?
The character’s conflict is a great example of Man vs. Society. Ender struggles through his “isolation” and feels abandoned by everyone. He feels as if everyone is out to get him. Even when his isolation period is over, his satisfaction doesn’t last long. He is soon taken away from all of his friends in his launch group and he is put under the command of Bonzo Madrid and he is brutally abused and not accepted again. When he is traded away, his situation at Rat army isn’t much better. Ender is constantly pushed by the teachers to his limit to become a better soldier.
The conflict of Ender Wiggin. Ender is a six-year-old genius. He starts to have a conflict with a boy named Bernard. Eventually he gets transferred. He starts to have a conflict with a boy named Bonzo.
Ender is a third child made for military reasons. A third child is illegal in this time period but in this case it is okay. Alien type figures attack Earth and if Ender doesn’t become a military genius as they hope him to be, it could be the end of Earth. So Ender is put in Battle school at age six. He is put through many obstacles to prove that he can be a great commander and stop the Earth and bugger war.
Six-year old genius, Ender Wiggin is a rare third child in a war between alien buggers and the people of Earth. When Ender gets recruited to Battle School for military reasons he faces a man vs. society conflict. The conflict is that Ender must try to face the bullying from the other kids in Battle School, and must try to face the pressure and loneliness that has been placed upon him by Battle School recruiters, who expect a lot from him. Ender must become a successful leader and must survive through harsh battle simulations. Also, he must try to ignore and avoid the evil things that the bigger kids will most likely do to him in the future. If Ender does not perform well and does not become a brilliant battle commander like the Battle School recruiters think he will be, it could impact the entire war.
